Nagoya with kids in autumn: what to wear and pack for two nights

Packing for an autumn family trip to Nagoya is easier when you separate what you will wear during the day from what you may need in the morning and evening. This guide uses a two-night stay at Maison Fleur Nagoya to help you plan clothes, travel essentials and items the house already provides.

Choose layers using the forecast for your dates

Japan Meteorological Agency normals for Nagoya (1991–2020) show average daily highs of 23.3°C in October and 17.3°C in November, and average daily lows of 14.8°C and 8.6°C respectively. These are monthly climate averages, not the forecast high and low for your visit.

Our suggestion is to keep an easy-to-remove outer layer in your day bag. Think about early travel and walks after dinner as well as daytime sightseeing. Near departure, check the forecast highs, lows and rain for your dates, then adjust clothing, footwear and rain gear to your planned time outdoors.

Keep the first things you need in a small travel bag

Pack the suitcase for opening at the house, and keep changes of clothes and drinks accessible during the journey. A separate bag of spare clothes for each child can save searching. Adjust quantities to your children’s ages and usual needs.

  1. Group an outer layer, spare clothes and spare socks together.
  2. Keep familiar drink containers, snacks and wipes within easy reach.
  3. Separate the nappies, feeding supplies and usual care items needed during the journey.
  4. Check rain gear, a bag for wet clothes, chargers and the arrival instructions sent after booking.

Plan a wash, but keep one spare outfit ready

The house has a drum washer-dryer, laundry detergent and hangers. With two nights or more, you can plan laundry during your stay. Check clothing labels and allow time for drying; keep an outfit for the next morning out of the wash.

For clothes that cannot be tumble dried, or thick items that may take longer, bringing a spare can be simpler. Leave time to relax at the house rather than relying on late-night chores to make the next day work.

Plan the final leg from Nagoya Station to the house

One public-transport option is the Aonami Line from Nagoya Station to Nakajima Station. The house is about 1.7 km from Nakajima, with a usual walking guide of around 20 minutes. This is not a guaranteed walking time with small children or luggage, so allow extra time for the final leg.

If you arrive towards evening, keep jackets and rain gear accessible and consider travelling by car if it suits your family. There are two free parking spaces: one on-site and one at a separate location. Check the photographs and maps sent after booking for both locations.

Check-in is 16:00–22:00 and check-out is by 10:00, Japan time. Please tell us your expected arrival time in advance. Leaving some space between sightseeing, shopping and arrival makes the first evening easier.

Check the kitchen and children’s items before packing

The kitchen has cookware and tableware, and an electric cooking pot is available. Bring your own ingredients. If you plan to cook on arrival, choose a familiar, simple meal and prepare the ingredients and seasonings you will need.

We provide children’s tableware, bibs and children’s body wash. There is one children’s dining chair; the manufacturer’s age guide is 18 months–5 years, depending on the child’s size. Bring items your children specifically need, including when siblings need to use them at the same time.

The play area has toys, and board games are available, so you might bring just a few familiar favourites. The house has two floors with indoor stairs: accompany young children and keep hot cooking equipment out of their reach.

Separate arrival, outing and departure essentials

For a two-night trip, separate the first evening’s clothes and bedtime items, the next day’s outing bag and the final travel-day outfit. This avoids unpacking everything each time. If rain is forecast, consider one outing and change plans around the children’s pace. Our related rainy-day guide introduces indoor options in Nagoya.

Before departure, check the forecast, arrival and parking instructions, and the clothes you will need on the final day. Our minimum stay is two nights. Explore the house photographs and availability calendar to choose dates that work for your family.
